Abstract:
The Internet of Things (IoT) has emerged as a crucial technology in the digital transformation of civil engineering, facilitating real-time monitoring, smart analysis, and proactive management of infrastructure. This technology significantly transforms geotechnical engineering by facilitating real-time data collection, ongoing monitoring, and smart analysis of soil and structural performance. This advancement greatly enhances the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of both underground and civil infrastructure initiatives. This technology, represents a groundbreaking technology that facilitates the communication and data exchange among interconnected devices, thereby transforming numerous sectors by improving efficiency and decision-making processes. Although its application spans from domestic to industrial contexts, the full potential of IoT is still largely unexploited in the field of geotechnical engineering, where the availability of real-time data and monitoring could greatly influence safety and stability evaluations. This study seeks to investigate the importance and function of Internet of Things (IoT) technology within the field of geotechnical engineering, along with its extensive array of practical applications.
