Abstract:
Mechanical strength assessment of industrial solid catalysts is one of the most important steps in their characterization. Defects such as microcracks with different sizes inside the catalyst bulk leads to a wide distribution of mechanical strength data. In this paper it is discussed that the mean value and standard deviation are not sufficient for the describing of mechanical strength of a catalyst sample and it is also shown that have a narrow distribution of strength data is necessary for a reliable sample. After describing the Weibull model, using two catalyst samples with different Weibull modulus, it was shown that sample with higher Weibull modulus of ۵.۸۳ had a more reliable mechanical strength respect to the sample with Weibull modulus of ۳.۱۵.
