Abstract:
The engine produces the carbon dioxide (CO2), hydrocarbon (HC), Nitrogen oxides (NOx) and etc. NOx can move longdistances, causing a variety of health and environmental problems in locations far from their emissions source.These problems include ground level ozone and smog, which are created in the atmosphere by the reaction ofnitrogen oxides and hydrocarbons in the presence of sunlight. An investigation was managed in a compressionignitionengine fuelled with blends of diesel and biodiesel at different EGR rates. The effect of fuel blends ratio andEGR rate was examined on the emission characteristics (unburned hydrocarbon (HC), nitric oxide (NO), carbondioxide (CO2) and oxygen (O2). Air‐Fuel equivalence ratio (λ), oil temperature and intake gas temperature were alsoanalyzed. Results show that the blends of diesel and biodiesel decrease HC emissions compared to those of dieselfuel. Biodiesel addition can increased NO, CO2 and O2 emissions compared with that of diesel. EGR reduced NOemissions in compression‐ignition engine fueled with diesel and biodiesel blends. The fuel consumption and air‐fuelequivalence ratio were decreased by 19.2 %, 72.9 % respectively for 20 % biodiesel blends with 20% EGR comparedto diesel fuel without EGR. Intake gas temperature and oil temperature were observed as increases by 87.5%, 6.2%respectively compared to diesel fuel without EGR.
