Abstract:
The construction sector, accounting for % of global CO۲ emissions and vast resource depletion, necessitates pioneering eco-friendly materials to facilitate a sustainable transition. This paper offers a thorough review of advancements from Y.YI-Y. Yo, encompassing permeable concrete from waste aggregates, low-carbon housing materials like geopolymer concrete, bio-fiber composites, and circular bio-based alternatives. These innovations curtail embodied carbon by %, bolster mechanical performance, and advance circular economies. Employing bibliometric analysis, life-cycle assessments (LCA), and case studies from diverse regions, the research quantifies environmental impacts, revealing ۱۰-۵۰% cost savings in long-term applications. Focal themes include energy conservation, waste valorization, policy-driven adoption, and integration with Construction E, technologies such as BIM and D printing. Challenges like scalability and regulatory hurdles are tackled with recommendations for standardization, incentives, and public-private partnerships. This study equips civil engineers and policymakers with strategies to deploy green materials, aligning with net-zero infrastructure objectives and circular economy tenets in civil engineering, while highlighting performance data such as up to ۱۰% reductions in thermal conductivity and ۲.% in emissions. Expanded analysis includes durability tests under tidal conditions, genetic algorithms for eco-scheduling, and combinations with D printing for prefabricated elements, providing comprehensive insights for practical implementation in modern infrastructure.
