Social development, as a key dimension of sustainable development, plays a significant role in improving the quality of life for communities. Over the past decades, social development planning theories have faced challenges such as globalization, technological advancements, environmental crises, and rising social inequalities. This review article aims to explore the future of social development planning theories and provide a comprehensive perspective for transformation and rethinking in this field. The theoretical framework emphasizes concepts such as social justice, inclusivity, sustainability, and the role of advanced technologies. Using a documentary research method and content analysis of reputable academic articles, emerging trends and future challenges in social development planning theories are examined. Finally, recommendations are presented, including adopting interdisciplinary approaches, leveraging advanced technologies, enhancing citizen participation, and addressing local characteristics for developing new theories. The study concludes that the future of social development planning requires the creation of flexible, comprehensive models that are responsive to both global and local needs.
