Abstract:

In the present study, finite element method has been chosen to analyze the active control of vibration and dynamic response of FGM beam bonded to piezoelectric actuator and sensor layers. The Euler model for a long and thin beam is employed. Feedback control algorithm is implemented to control the dynamic and static response of beams. By using finite element method, it is shown how displacement feedback control gain contributes to the stiffness matrix and the velocity feedback control gain contributes to the damping matrix. The numerical results show the effects of the volume fraction on the static deformation, natural frequencies and vibration of beam. Furthermore, it is observed that how static deflection, natural frequencies and peak responses can be controlled by the displacement control gain and active damping can be provided by adjusting the velocity control gain.
