Abstract:
new aromatic diimide-dicarbocylic acids having pyridine heterocyclic ring and bulky pendant group were synthesized by the reaction of trimellitic anhydride with 4-aryl- 2,6-bis(4-amino phenyl)pyridine. The diimide-dicarboxylic acids were reacted with different commercially available diamines (CDAM) to prepare a series of novel poly(amide-imide)s. All monomers and polymers were characterized by spectroscopic methods and their thermal properties and solubility behavior were studied. Results showed that these polymers exhibited excellent thermal stability as well as improved solubility in common polar aprotic solvents.
