Abstract:

In this study, the hydrostatic extrusion process of 93 Tungsten alloy has been investigated by finite element method (FEM). The numerical results were validated by experiments. Also the effect of die angle on the required extrusion pressure for the process of hydrostatic extrusion of 93 Tungsten alloy has been studied. The common equations for evaluating the extrusion pressure in the hydrostatic extrusion have been investigated. Eventually has been found out that in contrast with simple forward extrusion, the expression based on energy approach obtained as the best expression for estimating the required pressure in the process of hydrostatic extrusion. Also as was deduced from results, the extrusion pressure has been decreased by reducing the die angle but this influence is very negligible so it can be ignored at low die angles.
