Abstract:
Injection of polymer solution instead of water leads to increase of volumetric sweep efficiency which results in decrease of residual oil and increase of ultimate oil recovery. In this study a series of water and polymer injection processes are performed on five-spot glass micromodels which are initially saturated with a heavy crude oil of an Iranian oil field at varying conditions of polymer type and concentration. Three types of polymer i.e. two synthetic polymers and a biopolymer are tested. Four two dimensional glass micromodels with different fracture properties are used to survey effects of presence of fracture with different properties. This study demonstrates different physical and chemicdal conditions that affect this method of enhanced oil recovery.
