Abstract:

The molecularly imprinted polymers (MIP) are polymers possessing specific cavities designed for a target molecule. MIP are synthetic polymers having a predetermined selectivity for a given analyte, or group of structurally related compounds that make them ideal materials to be used in separation processes. In this study new absorbent for molecularly imprinted solid phase extraction of Imipramine from aqueous solution was synthesized using Methacrylic acid (MAA) as functional monomer, Ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as a cross linker, 2-2'-Azoisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as initiator and chloroform as porogen, causing a non-covalent bulk polymerization. The synthesized polymer was characterized by IR spectroscopy and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The effect of different parameters such as pH, extraction time and amount of adsorbent on the method efficiency were evaluated.
