HYDROMATRIX®: a new way to generate hydropower

HYDROMATRIXR technology is a new concept in hydraulic energy generation. This technology, which was developed by VA TECH HYDRO in Linz, Austria, and the experimental investigations were carried out at the hydraulic laboratory of the Institute of Hydraulic Engineering of the Vienna University of Technology in Austria. The practical application of the HYDROMATRIXR technology is the HYDROMATRIXR module. The HYDROMATRIXR module is a compact arrangement of several bulb turbines installed on a steel structure. The steel structure contains not only the turbines with draft tubes and draft tube gates on the downstream side. There are trash racks in the front of the turbines and rooms for electric equipment and control systems. Only a cable is required to deliver the electric current from the module to the consumer.
