Design and fabrication of memory-supported portable Geiger-Muller counter for determination of gamma sources abstract

Geiger-Muller counter is one of themost used devices for detection and counting of radioactive sources in nuclear industries. These counters are used for determination of Gamma, Beta and Alfa sources, whereas the Gamma detection is the most widely used application. The counter that was designed and fabricated in this research is inexpensive, small-size and has a relatively simple design. The counter could be operated by 220VAC or 9V battery which made it a portable counter. The battery-operated power supply of this counter make it possible to use this counter in field applications such as installation on the intelligent warning robots in environments contaminated with radioactive sources.
