Abstract:
In this research, we used a co-rotating twin-screw extruder to melt and blend polypropylene (PP) with polycarbonate (PC) and poly(styrene-b-(ethylene-co-butylene)-b-styrene) (SEBS). PP/PC, PP/SEBS binary blends and PP/PC/SEBS ternary blend were produced. The influences of the PC, SEBS and core-shell particles on crystallization and melting behavior of PP phase and morphology were investigated. The results showed that, in PP/PC and PP/SEBS binaryblends the crystallization of PP was affected by the presence of PC and SEBS particles. PC and SEBS particles act as a nucleation agent for PP while core-shell particles did not act as a nucleation agent. Also results showed that -phase was formed due to the presence of SEBS in the PP matrix but the - phase was not formed due to the presence of core-shell particles in the PP matrix.
