Abstract:
Collocations are one of the most current issues and crucial constituent in second or foreign language acquisition. This kind of knowledge, for native speakers is instinctive. So, second language learners, need to put effort to learn collocation in order to make their speech and writing sound natural native-like. To achieve this aim, 01 EFL learners studying in a language institute participated in this study. They were randomly assigned to two groups, group A as the experimental group and group B as the control group. A pretest was administered to the students of both groups. In treatment sessions, collocation was taught through games to the experimental group. These games were including: Collocation Pelmanism, Flyswatters Board Rush game, Find your Partner, Guess the missing word, Collocation Domino game, and Collocation order. Control group was taught based on traditional method. And then after a treatment of fourteen weeks the result of the post test revealed that students in group A outperformed the students in group B. Results showed that teaching collocation through games had positive effect on vocabulary learning
