Abstract:
This paper presents the highly accurate numerical calculation of the natural frequencies for sandwich beams with functionally graded (FG) core with simply supported boundary conditions. The second order shear deformation beam theory (SBT) have been applied to the sandwich beams with functionally graded core analysis. The material properties of the functionally graded layer are assumed to vary according to power law distribution of the volume fraction of theconstituents. The Hamilton’s principle is utilized to obtain the equilibrium equations of sandwich beams with functionally graded core. The method is validated by comparing numerical results with the results obtained in the literature. The effects of the volume fraction index and thicknessto- length ratio on the fundamental frequencies are discussed.
