Abstract:

Few observations of the seismic performance of anchored walls have been made. Those observations that are available indicate overall good performance of anchored wall systems subject to strong ground motions in earthquakes.A soldier pile retaining wall consist of steel piles driven or placed in drilled holes and partially filled with concrete and either precast concrete panels set in the pile flanges or a cast-in-place reinforced concrete face connected to the front of piles . Steel nails are typically used for permanent support of excavation during construction. For this provision, soldier pile” refers to soldier pile retaining wall. This paper describes a numerical procedure based on 2D finite element method for analyzing the seismic behavior soldier pile walls with regard to construction sequence in coarse and fine grain alluvium and presents pseudo-static results in comparing with static analysis in Mohr-coulomb and hardening soil model.
