Abstract:

Today, energy conservation and pollution reduction has become two of the most significant factors in economic development and environmental protection. For analyzing the issue, low carbon architecture and its sustainable principles can offer propositions in achieving sustainable development of economy, society, natural environment and architecture itself simultaneously. This research reviews the mechanism of sustainable design and discusses the status of low-carbon concepts and technologies in building area and the necessity and importance of reducing carbon emissions in the life cycle of building from design, construction operation and demolishment; and thus identifies the approaches to reduce carbon dioxide emission in the built environment and finding effective ways and providing a theoretical basis for generalizing low-carbon technologies and fulfilling the healthy and rapid development of low-carbon buildings.
