Abstract:

The purpose of the present research was to investigate the effect of web-based learning model using scaffolding system to enhance Iranian EFL learners’ writing skill. To fulfill this purpose, 50 pre intermediatelearners of one of the Foreign Language Institutes in Saveh were randomly selected through running aPreliminary English Test (PET). Then, they were randomly divided into one experimental and one control group. The same content was taught to all groups while the experimental group worked in small groups of five members (scaffolding system), and put their writing samples on the website, and the control group,wrote their writings individually on the paper (traditional method). A pre-test and post-test were given to learners in all groups before and after the instruction and the mean score of the post-tests were compared through an independent sample t test which led to the rejection of the two null hypotheses, concluding thatweb-based learning model and using scaffolding system had a positive effect of improving learners’ writing skill.
