Abstract:
The purpose of the present study was to study the reading strategies used by Iranian technical students(ESP) when they read their academic research articles in English. To get this done, 65 male technical university students studying technical fields at Technical University of Sanandaj(Yazdanpanah)participated in this study. The Survey of Reading Strategies (SORS) [1] was used in thisstudy. The purpose of this survey is to collect information about the various strategies students use when they read academic materials in English in three categories: global, problem solving, and support strategies.The results showed that the studentsuse these strategies and are aware of reading strategies,as follows:support strategies, global strategies, and problem solvingstrategies. The Iranian technical students used the reading strategies differently according to their academic research.
