Abstract:
Anxiety might have a significant Impact on a translator’s mind during translating a text. The purpose of this study was to find whether there is any significant relationship between translators’ Anxiety levels, and the quality of translation they produce. In order to control moderate variables, in addition, the study focused on knowing the difference between gender and the level of anxiety. To this end, a sample of 25 male and female BA seniors of English translation studies comprised our participants. Three measurements were applied: a TOEFL Test of English was used in order to guarantee the homogeneity of the group, a test of translation was administered to measure the translation quality of participants, and a questionnaire was used to measure the anxiety level of the participants. The data were analyzed using T-test and Pearson correlation test. The results of the study revealed that there was a significant relationship between the anxiety levels of translators and the quality of their translations. Additionally, the results showed that females’ anxiety levels are significantly higher than those of males. To decrease Anxiety among translation students, some actions such as dealing with anxiety-provoking situations should be taken in translator training plans
