Abstract:

The present study investigated the role of smart boards on the Iranian secondary high school students' development of English vocabulary. The study was conducted in four intact secondary high school classrooms at Farzanegan high school inIn khorramabad. 84 secondary high school students participated in the study. The intact classes were randomly divided into two groups, experimental and control. First, a vocabulary teacher- made test was given to both groups as the pre- test. Then, in the eighteen session , the experimental group was taught vocabulary via smart board treatment based on their English book and the control group was taught in the regular way. After treatment sessions, the same vocabulary test was administered to the groups as the post-test. The results of paired t-test analysis demonstrated that there was no significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in terms of gaining vocabulary. However, both groups improved in vocabulary gaining from pre-test to post- test .Some implications for further research are suggested.
