Abstract:
Sucrose solution was concentrated using 1E commercial Accurel membrane via osmotic concentration. In the first set of the experiments, distilled water and CaCl2 (31.3%) were employed as the feed and brine to provide maximum vapour pressure gradient. The fluxes in the brine side were improved by membrane coating. In the second set of experiments sucrose solution with different concentrations were used as
the feed. The CaCl2 (31.3%) was employed as the brine. Water flux is decreased by increasing the sucrose solution due to lower vapour pressure gradient between feed and brine for highly concentrated sucrose solutions. Surface modification improves the flux.
