Reaction Wheel Functional Modeling Based on Internal Component abstract

Reaction wheel model is considered as actuator of satellites attitude control subsystem and it is used for confirming wheel design, designing attitude control subsystem and detecting its fault. In this paper, based on general structure of reaction wheels, a modeling is so presented that input and output behavior of the wheel would be similar to wheel model. Hence, electric motor, bearing, dynamic and static imbalance of the flywheel and driver are modeled and then a proportional-integral controller is designed for electric motor. To model components, governing relations and equations are expressed and then presented model of the reaction wheel is simulated. After discussing results of hardware in the loop, modeling is validated.
