Abstract:
Reservoir simulation is the only tools to predict the future behavior of a hydrocarbon reservoir under different production or injection scenarios. These energy sources play an important role in supplying the world's energy. Therefore, it is important to forecast the best production condition for optimum usage of these energy resources. This tools, also, has a very important role in reservoir management. Despite strong background of upstream reservoir engineering activities in our Islamic country, necessary efforts to manufacture Iranian comprehensive reservoir simulation have not been conducted. For obviation of this deficiency a three phase, 2D flow simulator using finite difference method has been coded for dual porosity reservoirs. In this program implicit-pressure, explicit-saturation with an automatic time step control has been used to simulate production or injection of darcy flow in vertical wells. Using this program user will be able to simulate production and ultimate recovery of reservoir fluids under different mechanisms such as fluid expansion, drainage and fluid displacement using different shape factors. The result of simulation for dual porosity model shows good agreement with reservoir behavior of this type of reservoir.
