Abstract:
Due to limitation in water resources, the treatment of wastewater and reusing it foragricultural purpose is inevitable. In this study, the degradation and mineralization of 2-nitrophenol (2NP) in the wastewater of industries was investigated by UV/TiO2 process in a batchphoto reactor. The effect of different variables such as initial pH, TiO2 concentration and initialconcentration of pollutant on the reaction rate has been examined. In optimum conditions (2 g/l ofcatalyst, pH at 7 and initial 2NP concentration of 15 mg/l), 92% of pollutant degradation and 65%of TOC removal were achieved in 180 and 240 min of reaction, respectively. The reaction raterepresented by the mechanism of Langmuir-Hinshelwood was found to follow pseudo first-orderkinetics.
