Abstract:

In this work, the adsorption of acid blue-193 (AB-193) from aqueous solution using different forms of volcanic rock structure such as light expanded clay aggregate (LECA), Perlite, and Basalt was investigated and compared. Also, some important adsorption parameters such as initial dye concentration, initial pH, and temperature were studied. The optimum pH, after adsorption experiments for AB-193 dye was found to be 1.5 for each of the adsorbents, and LECA obtained the maximum adsorption (qmax=29.32 mg/g). Three kinetic models, pseudo first and second orders and also the intraparticle diffusion model were used to fit the kinetic data. The pseudo-second order equation presented the most sufficient correlation with R2 > 0.996. Also, the Freundlich equation had better description for isotherm data than Langmuir equation. Furthermore, a full thermodynamic evaluation, calculating the parameters of enthalpy, Gibes free energy, and entropy changes were realized.
