Abstract:

This paper proposes a stochastic energymanagement of microgrid (MG) with both operation modes ofgrid-connected and isolated considering the effects of demandresponse program (DRP) and energy storage system (ESS) underuncertainties. The energy procurement sources contain upstreamgrid (UG) in grid-connected mode, micro-turbines (MTs) as localdispatchable units, and renewable energy sources (RESs)(photovoltaic (PV) systems and wind-turbines (WT)) as well ascharge/discharge of ESS and DRP. The ESS and DRP areintegrated in stochastic energy management by the MG’ operatorto reduce the expected operation cost as well as reducing of loadshedding in isolated mode. Meanwhile, the uncertainty models ofupstream grid price, load and RES output power are consideredin the stochastic framework formulation. Finally, the influencesof ESS and DRP on stochastic energy management of MG areinvestigated in grid-connected and isolated modes, and four casestudies are used and compared to show the capability of theproposed stochastic framework.
