Abstract:
Recently the dangerous effects of oil poisoning due to different resources of the water & aquaculture have been completely detected. The aim of the present study is to assess the crude oil effects in acute & chronic conditions in various concentrations on behavioral and physiological changes and bioaccumulation of PAHs in Therapon jarbua of Persian Gulf. The finger ling fishes were exposed to 0.3, 0.6 and 1.2 ppm doses throughout the short term (96 hours) and long term (8 days) periods. Their behavioral, physiological changes and mortality rate were evaluated during two stages. The concentration of PAHs was measured in fish body and the results were analyzed by statistical methods. The adult fishes were also exposed to 12 ppm in both stages. Behavioral conditions, movement activities and buoyancy situations were recorded, causing effect of oil and recorded death in different time. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH s), were measured in the tissues of fishes to identify the
bioaccumulation in the fish species studied. The results show that oil was affected on fish in signals, reflexes and nervous system. The most prevalent signal were behavioral confusion, in coordination with swimming, puls gills slow movement and swimming on back or turned, muscles flexing, fall to bottom of aquarium and etc. The finding of this research indicates that the crude oil has more effects on fingerling fishes and they were more sensitive to the oil compared to adult fishes. The results of the study on the concentration of PAHs in the liver and skin tissues of finger ling fishes indicate that these parameters increased due to the rising of dose and concentration of PAHs with more Aromatic rings (4 & 5). However these findings demonstrated that the more Aromatic rings component have more accumulation ratios compared.
