Abstract:
nanocrystalline magnesium aluminate spinel (MgAl2O4) powders were synthesized by the wet chemical co-precipitation method by using three kinds of surfactants: neutral, anionic and cationic. The precursors were calcined at 800 and 1000°C for 2 hours. To investigation the effects of surfactant types, the obtained samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, differential thermal analysis and thermal gravimetric (DTA/TG), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). It was revealed that the nanocrystalline magnesium aluminate spinel was formed at 800°C by using CTAB as cationic surfactant.
