Abstract:
ZnO-CdO nanocomposite was synthesized by a W/O microemulsion method. The effect of surfactant, weight ratio of zinc oxide and cadmium and calcination temperature on morphology, phase formation, phase transformations, particle size and specific surface area of nano-composite crystal ZnO-CdO were investigated. The synthesized products were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and zeta potential tests to determine the surface charge of adsorbents. The calculated crystallite size via Scherrer equation was about 55 ± 2 nm for ZnO and for CdO about 64 ± 3nm. X-ray diffraction revealed that ZnO-CdO nanoparticles with crystallite size in nanometer scale were formed.
