Recognizing Intellectual Capital Factors Affecting the Performance of University Faculty Members: A Conceptual Study

Nowadays, performance of organizations cannot be evaluated through conventional performance systems; therefore, it is required to employ a set of indicators and criteria related to the current organizational condition and atmosphere. In fact, intellectual capital and Knowledge play an undeniable role. Since intellectual capital includes invisible resources and activities that allow the organization to change its functional, materialistic and human resources causing value creation, an organization such as university whose main purpose is to produce and distribute Knowledge and also to invest on research and development, is not excepted and needs to take the role of Knowledge and intellectual capital in organizational performance into account; accordingly, the management of intellectual capital can provide a good base to improve education of research activities. Considering the crucial effect of intellectual capital on performance of faculty members, the present study has conducted a library research and consulting experts to identify the factors affecting both training and research performance of faculty members as well as intellectual elements of university; that will result in reinforcement of university intellectual capital and improvement of education and research performance of faculty members. Recognized factors are introduced in three groups of human, structure and relation categories.
