Abstract:
This paper presents a comparative study of cost and performance of three phase PM BLDC motor for axial fan using sintered, bonded NdFeB and ferrite magnets. PM BLDC motors are designed for AC axial fan model M4E 094-EA making ebm-papst company with an output power 174W. The output power is calculated by measuring the blade characteristic of the axial fan. At the end of paper, cost and weight of active materials in three types of designs are compared. It is shown that even though weight of ferrite motor is approximately 1.24 and 1.29 times sintered and bonded NdFeB motor respectively but total cost of the motor is only 64% and 75% that of sintered and bonded NdFeB motor respectively
