Removal of lead from aqueous solutions and wastewater by magnetic Fe3O4- walnut sawdust composite abstract
Magnetic Fe3O4-walnut sawdust composite (MSD) was evaluated for removal of heavy metal lead from aqueous solutions and wastewater. Batch experiments have been performed as a function of pH, contact time, dose of sorbent, initial lead concentration, strength ionic and temperature. The experiments showed that the adsorption process was quick and the equilibrium attained within 45 min. Evaluation using Langmuir Freundlich gave sorption capacity 12.99 mg g-1. lead uptake by new adsorbent was best described by pseudo-second order model. Using the equilibrium concentration constants obtained at different temperatures, various thermodynamic parameters have been calculated. The results indicated that lead adsorption was feasible, spontaneous, and endothermic
