Effect of the Solid Surface on the Morphology of Phase Separated Polymer Solutions

During phase separation process of a polymer solution, blend, or melt in the vicinity of the solid surfaces or substrate, a specific pattern forms which differs from that in the bulk ofsystem. The surface morphology is an essential factor to determine the surface properties and the application of thematerials. We use Cahn-Hilliard nonlinear theory of phase separation along with considering the surface properties to predict the morphology evolution during spinodal decomposition phaseseparation of polymer solution near solid surfaces. A numerical finite element algorithm has been used to determinethe temporal spatial concentration filed on the solid surface in a phase separation process
