Abstract:

The present article focuses on language as one of the Foucauldian power tools which are usually applied to creation of fictions and realities, and hence,affecting the minds and identities of readers. Here, V. S. Naipaul, a Nobel Laureate, is taken as possessing a unique linguistic talent through whichemploys language power tools and literary elements and devices to influence his readers’ perception of the world without to create the desired and scheduled reality for them about the targeted societies. His unrivaled and unique talent in fiction and non-fiction narratives has been utilized to depict the facts as desiredrealities. Some of these issues and the relevant power tool have been discussed in this article under the light of Critical Discourse Analysis to explore and delineate how travel narrative writers such as Naipaul can manipulate power tools to fictionalize the events and phenomena on their route to easily get themaccepted through power of literary narrative. The results of this research conform that travelogues and similar documentary narratives can be fictionalized for further effect, hence, farther from facts.
