Abstract:

The rheological properties of noncompatibilized polypropylene/polythylene terephthalate (PP/PET) blends , in relation with their morphlogy were studied at two constant levels by usage of maleice anhydride modified PP (PP-g-MA) . By scanning electon microscopy (SEM) of cryo fractured surfaces , the morphology of the blends was examined . The frequency sweep experiments were carried out for the blends and theoretical analysis were done using Palierne model. It was observed that the changes in moduli fit relatively well Palierne model . Also the frequency sweep results indicated that increasing the compatibilizer causes behavioral changes in the rheological propertise , which could be related to the reduction of interfacial tension and average droplet size.
