Abstract:
Graphene oxide (GO) has been extensively investigated as one of the most promising nanomaterials for biomedical applications due to its unique properties such as two-dimensional planar structure, large surface area, chemical stability and good biocompatibility. In this study, GO was used as a substrate to be decorated with magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles. The Fe3O4 nanoparticles can be formed on the surface and between layers of the GO sheets. The Fe3O4/GO nanocomposite as a drug delivery magnetic platform was prepared by co-precipitation method on the synthesized GO. Gelatin was used to functionalize Fe3O4/GO nanocomposite to obtain a stable suspension. The chemical structure of the nanocomposite was characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR). The Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopes (FE-SEM) results showed that the average particle size is 14 nm and the particles are spherical.
