Abstract:

English language teaching in Iran is currently following the agenda of simplicity paradigm. However, to meet the requisites of future, it is going to face a shift from simplicity to complexity paradigm, sooner or later. The present analytical paper, hence, elaborating on the comments of four EFL instructors tries to deal with some aspects that must be thoroughly studied before the change starts. In this regard, creativity, anti-monopolistic opportunities and various spillovers are introduced as positive whereas social, cultural and psychological concerns such as insular views against complexity paradigm and information overload are brought forth as arguable areas to be addressed by future researchers, educators, material developers, and language policy makers.
