Abstract:
Being smart—having a high IQ—is related to success in life , but the relationship is not all that strong. Smart people can usually figure out how to do a job, and they are good at the more academic parts of the position. But to be truly successful requires other forms of intelligence, emotional intelligence and cultural intelligence or CQ.The notion of cultural intelligence has been described as a new kid on the block .During the last couple of years, it has started to go main-stream. Growing numbers of leaders in business, government, andnonprofit organizations are realizing the benefits that come fromthis intelligence-based approach to adapting and working cross-culturally. And many corporations, government agencies, and universities are tapping into the CQ difference to achieve results.Cultural intelligence or CQ is the capability to function effectively in a variety of cultural contexts. Although an extensive discussion of this factor appears in many scholarly papers dealing with management and business little has been done , so far about CQ and abilities such as foreign language proficiency (FLP). In this article we discuss the definition of cultural intelligence ,four components of cultural intelligence – meta cognitive, cognitive, motivational, and behavioral cultural intelligence ,cultural intelligence growth,and some work has been done so far in relationship between cultural intelligence and (FLP) ,so far .
