Abstract:
This study investigates whether employer-provided training in British workplaces are associated with the level of employee voluntary turnover using matched employer-emploee data at the estabilishment level. Furthemore, this study aims also to examine whether job satisaction mediate the relationship between employer-provided training and turnover relationship.
Workplace Employment relations survey 2004 (WERS2004) was chosen as the data source of secondary analisis for this study.The estimation sub-sample used in this study comprises of 1624 workplaces with complete information on all the varablles of interest in this study.
Ordinal Least Squares Regressin, spearman Rank Correlation analyses, Independent-Sample T test and Descriptive statistics were used to analyse the data. The results reveal that. 1) employer-provided training has a significant positive impact on job satisfaction; 2) employer-provoded training is significantly negativereleted to employee turnover and 3)the effect of employer-provided training on employee turnover is not mediated through higher job satisfaction.
