Abstract:
Carbon nanoparticles (CNPs) have attracted significant interest of the researchers due to their excellent electrical, mechanical and optical properties. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) with low cost, high performance, low energy consumption and other intrinsic properties have potential applications in various fields. Heat transferring is an important issue in the analyses of nanoscale devices. Also the heat produced by CNPs in electrical equipment has been considered as a limiting factor in most applications, but CNTs as the main component of a nano device such as transistors and sensors have not been studied directly for heat production up to now. In this paper, the heat production by CNTs which are synthesized with arc discharge method in a carbonic medium (High density polyethylene) is investigated. Our experimental structure contains Metal- Semiconductor- Metal contacts (MSM structure) that performs as two back to back Schottky diodes which can be considered as a CNT based heating element.
