Abstract:

Amaranth is a harmful compound in wastewaters, and elimination of it would reduceits environmental impact and health risk effects. In the present work, carbon nano tube (CNT)were synthesized using a simple chemical method to remove the amaranth dye under UVirradiation. The process operating conditions were designed by central composite design (CCD)with a modified linear model to predict the variables. To investigate the variables and interactionbetween them, analysis of variance was used with high F-value (1.44), low P-value(<0.0409), non-significant lack of fit, the determination coefficient of 0.898, and theadequate precision of 7.25. Experimental and simulated values of the efficiency illustrated agood correlation of the model and data. The optimum parameters, i.e. catalyst amount (0.14w/w%), initial concentration (7.38 mg L-1), reaction time (47.75 s) and pH (2.83) for thehighest percentage of decolorization (90.20%) were attained.
