Abstract:
Iran is located in one of the world s seismically active areas and has been witnessing strong earthquakes.(DUWKTXDNHV FDXVH GDQJHU WR KXPDQʼV OLIH. One of important geotechnical risks is liquefaction. Soil liquefaction cause destruction due to earthquake. This phenomenon could happen in sandy soils due to excessive pore water pressure. The increase in pore water pressure may decrease shear strength of soil.In this study, liquefaction potential of line 3 of Tabriz metro is investigated. To evaluate liquefaction potential, soil profile is defined based on geotechnical investigation of this line of metro. These investigations consist of 28 boreholes. To do so, CivilTech Liquefy Ver 4.5D is used and the results are obtained by seed and idriss method. Therefore two parameters CSR and CRR are calculated and he results are compared.Obtained results shows that liquefaction happened in soil layers with sand content. Liquefaction is function of groundwater level. In the other words, as groundwater level changes, liquefaction depth changes. Investigation of profiles and comparison between liquefaction probable condition shows that presence of sand particles in clayey layers may increase the potential of liquefaction.
