Abstract:

The involvement of female in the construction is relatively small compared to male workers. Previous studies show that women faced numerous challenges. Thus, this is resulting in declining of job satisfaction and eventually affect their job performances. Hence, the objective of this paper is to investigate the challenges faced by top female managers in the construction industry. This paper focused on the four major challenges namely discrimination, family, competition and workplace environment challenges. A total of forty-six female managers from contractor G7 in Selangor were selected. Data obtained through questionnaires were analysed using SPSS. The result obtained throughdescriptive method shows that competition obtain the highest mean scores and discrimination obtain the lowest means scores. Therefore, employers in construction organizations should make sure these challenges do not affect their job performance. With high job satisfaction, females will be more enthusiastic and motivated to work more efficiently towards achieving organizational objectives.
