Abstract:
This research was prompted by underutilization of public bus transport (PBT) and gap in the relationship between intention and behavior. A research model was developed based on theory of interpersonal behavior (TIB, Triandis, 1980) to identify the predictors of intention and behavioral readiness to use PBT among the drivers. Sample of the drivers (N=317) was solicited from George Town conurbation centre in Penang using online survey, SoGoSurvey. Results from the structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) show significant associations of convenience, flexible services, and commute impedance with intention. Intention is the primary predictor of the behavioral readiness to usePBT. Practical implications are discussed and pragmatic intervention programs proposed in targeting improvement of the drivers’ behavioral readiness
