Abstract:

One of the main criticisms concerning Performance Management Systems is that it involves lot of paper work and it is time consuming to collect relevant information concerning performance of employees especially when the organization is big and the system is done manually. One of the solution is to use information technology so as tomake Performance Management System easier to implement in both private and Public Sector organizations. This will help to manage the large amount of information related to performance of employees in an organization andjustify the use of the concept of electronic Performance Management System (e-PMS) in ensuring the continuity and success of the PMS process. Even public sector organizations that implement PMS are facing similar problems and they are adapting E-PMS to enhance the effectiveness of the PMS in their organization. However, there are certainfactors that prevent employees from easily adapting to such systems and they do not readily accept such e-PMS systems in their workplace. Consequently, the main purpose of this research is to assess the perception of employees towards the e-PMS system that was implemented in a semi-governmental organization in Mauritius and identify theweaknesses in the system that are influencing the usage and acceptance of the system by the employees’. A survey of133 employees in the semi-governmental organization was carried out. The study unfolded that a number of employees are still not adapting to the e-PMS.
