Abstract:
Magnetite/polyvinylpyrrolidone nanofibers have been fabricated to evaluate the potential of composite nanofibers as electromagnetic interfence (EMI) shielding material in the frequency range of 8.2 -12.4 GHz. The microstructural properties and electrical conductivity of composite nanofibers were found to be dependent on magnetite nanoparticles concentration and showed an increase with increasing magnetite nanoparticles loading. The EMI shielding efficiency (SE) of composite nanofibers increased up to ~22 dB. The EMI shielding results for composite nanofibers showed that absorption was the shielding mechanism and reflection was the secondary shielding mechanism. The present study has shown the possibility of utilizing magnetic composite nanofibers as EMI shielding/absorption materials.
