Abstract:
Although breast cancer screening is based on mammography, MRI hasimproved detection rate of breast cancer lesions. There are cases in whichmammography is not helpful (age<40yo or dense breast). As a matter of fact,ultrasound has been established as a screening tool for dense breast in UnitedStates MRI is sensitive for breast cancer diagnosis, but its specificity is nothigh. For False positives findings, patients may have biopsies for benignlesions. Sometimes ultrasound is helpful in interpretation of breast MRI lesions.With correlation with MR findings, ultrasound may give additional informationto characterize the lesions.
