Abstract:

Diatomite is a very cheap mineral material. It can be applied as an adsorbent to remove organic and inorganic pollutants from waste water and there is no need to further improvement. In this research, the adsorption of two different basic colorants, Basic Yellow 28 (BY28) and Malashit Green (MG), has been investigated in an aqua binary mixture by this adsorbent and the effects of different parameters has been estimated. L27 Matrix of Taguchi method was used to optimize the number of experiments. 5 parameters in three levels (low, medium, and high) were chosen. These parameters were colorants concentration (2 parameters), pH, time, and adsorbent concentration. Speeds of mixtures and temperature had been fixed. The responses were the removal percentages of each colorant, separately. The results were shown that each colorant concentration has effects on others adsorption and this process is sensible to pH.
