Abstract:
Pyrite (FeS2) thin film was deposited on a glass substrate at 4000C, using (FeCl2.4H2O) and thiourea as the precursors. Morphological, chemical and optical properties of the pyrite thin film were studied. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) image showed the substrate was well covered by the pyrite thin film and more magnification revealed the morphology of the surface was homogenious. Energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) confirmed that the composition is near stoichiometric. Optical analysis showed the pyrite thin film is a potential absorber in UV-VIS range and the band gap value was calculated 1.2eV.
